Woot. If you haven't voted for the banners you want me to show you go here.

Go from this to this: .

CREDIT TO: [livejournal.com profile] astrokittie for the icon.
THIS IS NOT MY ICON. If the creator has a problem with me using their icon, please contact me! :)

So you'll end up with all the following information: (copied from [livejournal.com profile] custom_banners)
icon:

series/character: Gyakuten Saiban/Phoenix Wright
placement: first place
icontest community: videogameawards
week number: 37
theme: rebirth
link to winning post: http://community.livejournal.com/videogameawards/49215.html#cutid1
lj name you want on banner: [livejournal.com profile] astrokittie
font used: Arial
brush credits: not given.
file format: .jpg
Additional comments? Base Image, Background

Copy and past the icon to a width: 300; height: 100 canvas. ALWAYS KEEP THE ICON ON TOP.
Copy the background image onto the background. Then take the base image and paste it above the background layer matching it as closely as possible to the icon, set it to multiply 100%.
New layer below the base image and color in the shoulder/arm with #F9E7BB.
Duplicate the icon layer, place layer below the icon layer and Edit>Transform>Flip Horizontal and place it beside the icon. Erase most of the duplicated icon until only the orange is left. This creates a nice transition between the icon and the banner.
We now have the background done, now for the extra layers. Using this brush [you can make it yourself or just use a brush]. I used #F3E0B6 to make the lines the same shape as the icon. Then Horizontal Flipped it to be the same direction.
Next I used these blood splatter brushes and #F3E0B6 to make the top right corner's splatter.
Using Arial, 10pt, #F4E3B6, with -100 spacing type out the words "first place byastrokittie" [yes i made a typo in the banner too]. and place it above the slashed lines.
Now use Arial Narrow, 6pt, #F4E3B6, with 0 spacing type out the words "videogameawards wk: 37 rebirth". Place it below the slashed lines.
The last part is to give almost everything a shadow. Do this to the layer that says "first place...", right click and scroll down to Blending Options. Check the box next to Drop Shadow, then click the Drop Shadow tag. The Stuff under structure should be "Blend Mode: Multiply with color #556D55, Opacity: 100%, Angle: 120, Use Global Light (Check), Distance 1px, Spread, 0%, Size 2px. click Ok. Do this to the layer with the blood splatter, text layers, and the lines.

THIS TYPE OF BANNER MAKING IS GOOD FOR: When you are given the necessary tools (ie. background, original image, etc.) and you can possibly pull this off.

Possibly a late comment, but that character is Godot from the Gyakuten Saiban/Phoenix Wright series ^_^

Also: good tutorial! Now I know how you banner people make those banners. It always puzzled me. XD
